About Rayhaan
Rayhaan is a newly formed group of Wellington Muslims dedicated to the peaceful development of Sacred Islamic Knowledge within the Wellington region and the wider community, to encourage self-improvement and the informed incorporation of Islamic goals and principles in every aspect of our lives. Our aim is to introduce activities and services that encourage Islamic learning, positive social events and community participation. We also provide support and learning opportunities for those new to Islam and for those who simply would like to strengthen their Deen. We work closely with Al Ghazzali Centre and Imam Afroz Ali in Sydney and the Nawawi Centre in Christchurch to bring about these objectives.
At present, our Academy runs the Al-Ghazzali Centre's Distance Learning Programme and we are working on established, tried and tested projects that have been successful in similarly diverse communities such as ours. We have recently run a Motivation Workshop that had many positive reviews and we have a few projects scheduled to follow this, to build on the momentum.
Our current program is a lecture series about our beloved Prophet Muhammad Peace and blessings be upon him, that will be run by Imam Afroz Ali out of Sydney. Attendance to each lecture will be by koha (donation) and will run throughout August and September 2010.
